Stories from the Steppes is a series of multimedia portraits of encounters with nomadic communities in Mongolia. This project grew out of the almost two years I spent in Mongolia with nomadic families, on a 2007-2008 Fulbright fellowship and recorded sounds of nomadic families (over 50 hours worth) at work, play, rest. This life is fast changing as Mongolia segues into rapid urbanization – which makes it important, for me, to contribute to the record of nomadic life. - Shebana Coelho
